Characters: Room temperature, light yellow powder, bitter taste. Insoluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, slightly soluble in chloroform and nitrobenzene, almost insoluble in water, soluble in hot acid. Case of ferric chloride in green, orange case of lead-acid generating precipitation.
Soluble in alkali and ammonia previews yellow, and soon it becomes dark brown.
Labiatae by the dicotyledonous plant skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi) root dry extract derived. From the Scutellaria root extract isolated a flavonoid compounds.
Usage: Antibiotics for Xiehuo detoxification, hemostasis, tocolysis.
